Fresh tasty seafood. All sorts of huge ships go by while you eat. What a great atmosphere. They open up the doors and you are eating outside. Great sea breeze assisted by giant ceiling fans. Wonderful staff.
Love the food and the atmosphere. There's nothing like relaxing with good food and great drinks sitting on the banks of the river watching the boats go by... Paradise!
This was a new place for us. Have friends in Port Arthur that eat there, so thought we try it. Food was very good and the wait staff was attentive. Had fried shrimp and crab cakes and my husband had the blackened catfish. My brother-in-law had grilled shrimp and his fiancee had the shrimp and grits...that was interesting. Will certainly go back.
I wrote a whole big thing on this place about how bad my experience was but I deleted it just now and I wanted to take the time to point out another thing that’s going wrong here. If you own or manage a restaurant one of the most important things to do is to have a good reputation. When you don’t even take the time to respond to a few bad reviews such as with the Wheelhouse, it just shows that they really don’t care about the dining experience and don’t consider that spending. $200 on a meal that isn’t palatable. If i were a restaurant owner google reviews and yelp would be my biggest help because it’d let me know that even if i served 10 people and 9 had an enjoyable experience but the tenth persons was complete trash, that is not fair to that tenth person. That night we ate there my family was that tenth person and we paid a lot of money for some complete garbage. I’m getting mad thinking about it again because it felt like getting robbed and then being nice and thanking the people robbing us. Not only that but we all had stomach aches after we got home. I hope this helps people decide where they eat in the future.
Waiter forgot my food, but after getting it, it was delicious. Good size servings also. The atmosphere was family oriented and the view of the water was relaxing. Would recommend for everyone.
